Vacant and Condemned Properties

Does anyone have any luck with vacant and / or condemned properties?  I have been looking at properties for a while and have started to come across some that are condemned and have seen city listing of vacant properties.  I have also had come conversations with some city employees that work in this area and they seem very willing to help get these properties back into use.
