chewed up exposed wires in attic- what should I do?

Hello, I've got a rental property that has roof rats in the attic. the soffits rotted out in a couple spots and made an easy entry point for the rats I believe. I am getting a new roof soon, and hope to place some snap traps soon, however I want to make sure that I can reduce the chances of any fire or further electrical damage. The rats seem to have chewed open this wire, and many others in spots. Could I just wrap the strands separately with electrical tape and then wrap all together after that? Also, what kind of wire is this? It goes to the outside up to the siding. It seems to be a relatively thin wire, with 4 smaller wires inside, each coated with either red, yellow ,blue, or white.
