Concrete Driveway Replacement

Hi Everyone,

I have a signed purchase agreement on rental house #4 and had the home inspection today. One thing that is needed is about a 40' x 20' section of the concrete driveway needs to be replaced. I have no idea what this costs. Does anyone in south east Michigan have any advice on roughly what this should cost to be removed and new concrete poured?

Thanks!

Just to add a little bit from my experience...

Typically, a poured driveway will be either 4" or 6" thick. Which means that a cubic yard of concrete will cover about 50-80 square feet of driveway. A cubic yard of concrete these days is about $100 in many areas (could be a little more or less in your area, and would be more for small jobs where you're just buying bags of mix-it-yourself stuff).

So, for a 40'x20' area (about 800 square feet), you're probably looking at 10-16 cubic yards of concrete, or about $1000-1600 in concrete alone ($1-2 per square foot in concrete is a good general rule). Typically (in many areas, though certainly not all), labor to install the forms, install the concrete and remove the forms is about $1-3 per square foot. And typically, demo and haul away of existing concrete is about $1-3 per square foot as well.

Based on that, in total, you're looking at between $3-8 per square foot for the job, or between $2400-6400. In Atlanta, I'm paying closer to the $3/sf. In Milwaukee, I'm paying closer to the $4/sf. In Maryland, I'm paying closer to the $5/sf.

I'm guessing Michigan is probably somewhere in the Milwaukee/Maryland, range, so probably about $3200-4000...which luckily compares well to what others have already said... :-)
