Recommended Southside General Contractors

I'm looking for GC's to look at properties with around southside of Chicago (Washington heights area).  I was hoping some of you all had some recommendations.  Also, typically how easy is it to have a contractor come look at a property with you pre-purchase?  Are most available at the drop of a hat or do they need to be scheduled way in advanced?
