Better to purchase condo or rent?

I just wanted to hear some opinions on buying a personal residence before I actually start my real estate investing career is it a good pursuit or not? I’m ready to be on my own regardless how I feel should I hold off until I’m making money outside of my job investing in real estate? All opinions and insight are appreciated thanks in advance
