Best places to live in your opinion

It is often said “Live where you want, invest where it makes sense”. Many BP members talk about good markets where they invest.

But let me ask you this. In your opinion, where is a good place to live, to raise a family, to enjoy life and God’s creation.?

@Mark Vandzura

Pittsburgh, PA

The mind is its own place, and in itself
Can make a Heaven of Hell, a Hell of Heaven.
What matter where, if I be still the same,
And what I should be, all but less then he
Whom Thunder hath made greater? Here at least
We shall be free; the Almighty hath not built
Here for his envy, will not drive us hence:
Here we may reign secure, and in my choice
To reign is worth ambition though in Hell:
Better to reign in Hell, than serve in Heaven.

@Mark Vandzura  Love where we are at now...Charlotte, North Carolina.  Weather is great.  2 hours from the mountain, 3 hours to the beach.  Economy is super!!  Been an entrepreneur since the early 90s -- very supportive atmosphere for that.  Real Estate is pretty reasonable as well.

Many are voting for places they currently live, so I will change my answer a bit.

In short, it depends. I have friends that live in nearly all of the places listed in this thread (SF to Dallas, the Carolinas to Florida, Denver, etc) and some LOVE it there, and some are interviewing for new jobs to move asap. Many people born and raised in the Northeast love what Florida can offer, because for five months a year they deal with winter.

You talk to some native Floridians, and they end up wanting something more, and head somewhere else. The best advice I have read on here comes from @Ned Carey - the grass isn't always greener. You will find happiness within yourself first, and your surroundings second.

@Scott Mac, great answer. If I go anywhere, I'm taking my family with me!
