Self-Directed IRA Investment Criteria

Many folks invest in real estate deals through a self-directed IRA. IRA custodian companies like Equity Trust (www.trustetc.com) help facilitate this process as well as validate these opportunities for investors. They can tell an investor what required documents, among other items, an offering company must meet and identify the red flags of a less-than-altruistic organization. My question to you, the readership, is what do you like to see in a company before you yourself decide to invest some of your hard-earned retirement portfolio. What criteria must your offering company meet to earn the trust of your funds?
