San Jose: Permit requirement for deck+patio cover?

Hello!

I have looked at the San Jose codes but did not find a clear answer to the following question. Please let me know if any of you have a clue :)

Does the San Jose city require a permit for the below two structures?

1. Wooden deck less than 30 inches above ground, attached to the house in the backyard, with more than 20ft rear setback and 10 feet side setback from property line.

2.  Patio cover of 120sqft over this deck that is attached to the house. Not an enclosed patio cover but an open one with just the roof.
