@Mike Horan There have been different incarnations over the years.  In addition to the regular investment club meetings (one, in particular, of which feels very pitchy), there's also some informal ones.  The BrewRE series is a good one, organized by Andrew.  See https://www.meetup.com/San-Diego-Real-Estate-Networking-SDREN/

Once you get more plugged in, you'll find there are other occasional gatherings with less public advertising as well.
