First Big Investment?

I won't bore you guys with the backstory, but soon I am going to be voluntarily living in the back of my pickup truck in Los Angeles for one year. My credit is excellent, I am debt free, no wife, no kids, and I have a salary of $60-70,000 a year. I do plan to buy a house in the LA metro in early 2021 so I wanted to know how you guys would strategize my goal if you were in my predicament? Also, are there any parts of LA would where I could luck up on a $250-300,000 condo or house? Or cheaper?
