Placing a fence near an easement

I own a property in California that has a non exclusive easement for ingress and egress on the eastern side of my property. It is an easement for a property that is located behind mine. For privacy I would like to install a fence along the easement. My question is, how close to the easement can I build my fence? I am not trying to block the easement, just looking for privacy. Thanks.
