Anyone experienced in claiming overbid refunds?
I took a course via mail in making profits from processing tax lien & deed overbid refunds for homeowners who'd lost their homes. I'm ready to jump in starting with a county in SC. I expected to have to get limited POA, signed contract & two forms of ID, but didn't expect the county to also require a copy of the deed. Wouldn't someone whose home had been foreclosed on have had to relinquish it? Or burned it?!
Thanks for any advice you have in this area.

Deeds aren't like a title to a car. Deeds are recorded documents. After they are recorded in your local hall of records or recorder's office, it doesn't matter who has the original, if it's missing or if it's burned up.
I'm assuming the county wants proof of ownership of the owner of record at the time of the tax sale. Anyone can get a copy of a deed by going to the county's recorder's office or by ordering it over the phone or online.
