Converting a single family home
Greetings
I'm in the process of purchasing a home to try to convert the home into multi-unit. Does anyone have any insight on what they went through during their process? Such as hurdles they ran into, inspections, pricing, repairs that went well and did not go well, insurance, etc?

On a side by side duplex, typically everyone pays their own utilities, does their own lawn care, etc. On an up/down, you're probably going to have to treat it more like an apartment where you will need to pay for lawn care, etc. So be sure that making this into a multi unit is actually going to be financially beneficial.
If it's a gut rehab, you definitely want to split the plumbing/electrical/HVAC so that everyone pays their own utilities.
