Tips and tricks to transition from long term to short term rental

Closing on a property soon that we plan to set up for seasonal short term rental. Given that it is off peak renting season we will try to get a 6 month lease ( Dec-May) while also opening up dates on Airbnb for the months following. Does this seem like a reasonable timeline to get bookings? Any advice would be great as this will be our first STR!
