Renting rooms out in my single family house
I have been renting my rooms out and its been amazing, i have good roommates and i'm living for free. But i just found out my town doesn't allow it and I have been calling other towns and they say I cant do it in single family houses only in areas that are zoned for Multi family. Am i doing something wrong? i have month to month leases, i'm trying to do everything right but i keep on getting different answers. i call and ask what is the max amount of unrelated people that could live in a house and i say im going to rent out the rooms and they say 2 or 3 or what ever. Than i call back to double check and i asked them if i can rent my rooms out and then they are saying i have to be in a muilty family zoning. Is everyone just being secretive about it or is it my area i live in i live in the suburbs of chicago IL.
