Any tips for first time house hackers ?

Any tips for first time house hacking would be greatly appreciated. I'm 21 years old and my market is Rochester, NY. I have enough money saved up for a down payment for an FHA loan. I intend on buying a duplex or triplex, and renting out the best units to tenants. I have been researching for about 1 year and I finally feel comfortable with my credit score and the amount of money I have saved. Any tips or suggestions are much appreciated as I am a bit intimidated by all the moving parts. Thank you and god bless!

Congrats on far you’ve gotten already, Colin. I just bought my first duplex for a house hack and ended up down in Avon. Have you spoken with a lender and gotten approved yet? That should be your first step, then finding a realtor. I can refer who I used if you’d like. The biggest lesson I learned was patience. There were a lot of times where I thought I’d have to adjust my expectations. Stay strict to your criteria and don’t settle.
