Is house hacking strategy works in Ontario Canada, or in any part of Canada?

In Canada if you live in the property you can buy with as little as 5% down.  You'd also need CMHC insurance.  In many markets, it is not uncommon to see people with basement suites that people rent for extra income while living in the main part of the house.
