Fixer Upper or Turn key?

My wife and I have recently been looking on Realtor and Zillow for a home we are planning on moving into at the end of summer. She loves all of the just remodeled/recently renovated homes but I keep telling her I want something under value that we can fix up a little to add value to.

Is either option a good deal honestly? On one side, I know finding a property to add value to is key, however using the VA loan(Active Duty), buying a fully renovated house with ~0% down would be just as good as turnkey since we plan to rent it out once we move?

End state, the recently renovated houses would more than likely be nicer than what my wife and I could do a “fixer upper” home, i.e allowing higher rents.

I appreciate all the love and feedback from this page. I know y’all can help. Thank you!
