House hack to save money for future investments ?

I get a military pension, I am property tax exempt due to my 100% service-connected disability, and I'm eligible for a VA loan. I'm a newbie and I want to know if house hacking, to save more of my pension faster for future investments, a good starting point? Does it at least make sense? Lol

@Russ Loven - First off, thank you for your services! Secondly, House hacking is a great strategy to get started with real estate investing. You can save a whole bunch of money all with very little, or in your case no money down! I highly recommend you educate yourself a little bit further on the subject here on BiggerPockets. I'm sure you'll be house hacking in the next year or so :).
