Opportunity zone investment

Just saw this article and scratching my head why I wasn't presented with this as an option for capital gains by my CPA. Is this something brand new? Can funds be invested retroactively in opportunity zones?

@Alan Feldman it's new as of the 2018 tax code changes. You have 180 days to apply sale proceeds to an OFund. @Thomas Castelli is our resident expert.
