Does Broker "own" an Agents Ventures?

I am a licensed real estate agent.

Say I start a few independent websites to drive client traffic in investment property and campus rental areas or start property management and build a portfolio of units. If I leave to another brokerage or become a broker myself, would my broekr have any claims of ownership in these ventures?

My concern is that if these ventures are succesful, my broker will want a slice of the pie. I do not want to discuss it with him as I feel it would be a touchy convo.

I'm thinking of starting a website like memphisinvest dot com in my area.

Thoughts?
