Remax or a smaller brokerage ran by a family friend

I’m getting my real estate license soon and have the opportunity to either work for Remax or a smaller brokerage in Dallas, the owner of which is my mom’s friend. Aside from small monthly fees, there is no commission split. At remax there’s a little bit of both, but has the benefit of a huge name. My ultimate goal is to own my own brokerage, but I need to get experience in the industry and I’m having trouble deciding which route may be better for me. My mom and her friend both have agreed to mentor me in the process if I chose that route, but I’d have the benefit of more consistent mentorship at Remax. Do any of you who have done one or the other, or both, have any pros on cons of the route you went? Best.
