Good morning, is there anyone that has any experience in either renting or buying an apartment in a large metropolitan area and using an AirB&B type platform and renting it out by the week? Pros/Cons? Any info welcome!! Thank you

Yes. But backwards.  I own a few buildings downtown Houston. I have a guy that rents them from me at market monthly rent. He then rents them out on Airbnb. So he does what you’re talking about. He must do well as every time I buy another building he wants more units. I think he has 40 or so of our units rented.
