Earnest Money forms

I have two REO's that I am about to put offers in on, one is requiring $500 earnest money, and the other is requiring $2,000. With my offer the agent wants copies of the earnest money checks. My question is can these be copies of personal checks or some other form. This is my first time dealing with banks with REOs, any advice is always appreciated....
