Interest Rate Hedges for Commercial Real Estate Loans

Are any investors out there with buy and hold portfolios hedging their interest rate risk? If so, how?  It's not so easy to buy a credit default swap as an individual investor..Lots of loans being originated now with a rest in 5 years and the yield curve is steepening.

I have no experience doing this, but have you looked at CME Interest Rate put options?
