How Do You Use County's GIS for REI???

Dear BP Family,

@Tracy J. and I recently found out Johnson County, Kansas has a very powerful GIS mapping website.  Using layers, the site's map can show us everything from school district boundaries to zoning to proposed zoning to population density to foreclosures per capita.  If you're interested, the website is http://maps.jocogov.org/ims/ (maybe your county has a site like this also).

But how can we use this information to my advantage as a real estate investor?  Which layers should we pay attention to, or combine with other layers, to really figure out meaningful information?  We're trying to find out the best places to buy small multi-family properties within Johnson County, Kansas.

Any help would be appreciated!  Thanks in advance!
