Seattle-Tacoma Real Estate Broker Recommendations?

Question

Hey everyone!

I'm writing to see if anyone had referrals or recommendations for stellar broker/agents that specialize in investment properties? Since I am still relatively new to the region, I am looking for more information on potential areas that make sense for my budget and strategy (buy & hold). I am hoping that this person can make a big difference in which property I select as my first investment property.

Whether you want to work with me or not, I recommend doing your due diligence on agents. I come across SO many agents that don't have the clients best interests at heart. It's all about collect the commission and move on to the next client. I don't operate like that, and I don't support anyone who does. Asking the right questions, and setting clear expectations in the beginning is critical to having a positive relationship with an agent.

You should interview a bunch of agents and choose which one is best for you based on what your investment needs are. Ask them if they are an investor themselves and have them explain their investments along with the strategies they used to get them. That will help you to better understand which agent is right for you.

Also, ask yourself which type of investment property & strategy are you really trying to get into. Will help you find the right agent and reduce the amount of education time you need to be successful.

@James Marszalek is a local Broker. Super on point guy when it comes to investing- I'd start by reaching out to him.

Because my other experience has also been 9/10 brokers I talk to are basically useless to an investor.

I've worked with a few brokers. They all sucked. Each one had a HS diploma and that's it, it's a low barrier to entry "profession" with an archaic 6% commission. They basically just unlocked the door and filled out a cookie cutter contract. I did the finding, assessing, due diligence, etc. I found them next to useless other than opening the door for me, the only part I really needed them for. Their walk through inspection (Ryan Karns group) for my final purchase left me with all kinds of garbage left on the property by a neighbor, not all they keys to the house and a wide open door his assistant realtor somehow missed when she did the closing walk through. .

@Jack B. Very good points and I have to say for the most part your opinion is spot on accurate unfortunately.

Like someone else suggested here you might want to interview a couple of brokers and perhaps give each of them a shot at winning your business.  But also note it is critically important to tell the broker up front what you expect of him or her, what you need of him or her, and what your investment goals are in the finest detail.
