Virginia Moratorium 2022

Account Closed
Posted

I’m a little surprised there isn’t a thread about this. Currently our wonderful governor decided to extend the totally unconstitutional eviction ban in our state to June 2022.
Needless to say many people are losing their livelihood over this.

I’m wondering what you all have done to cope with the Clown World we are currently living in, where tenants can continually live in without paying?

I plan on going forward with monthly leases, but I’m not sure whether I can evict after I cancel the lease specifically because I canceled the lease. Therefore bypassing the whole “eviction due to non-payment of rent” moratorium that our government so kindly foisted upon us.

If that doesn’t work, besides even more thorough vetting of tenants, I’m not really sure what we can do.
