Veterans Affairs Renovation loan question

Hey everybody,

Does anyone have any experience using VA "Loans for Alteration and Repair" to buy a house to live in? According to the VA documentaion you can "purchase a home that needs improvement, or where the buyer wants to alter the home to their preference." I figured I could buy a house, fix it up, and then rent it out after living there for a year. Do any banks offer this? I suppose I could just start calling banks to ask them.

Thanks for reading,
