Up-and-coming/best areas to buy in San Antonio

Milla Vesanen
Posted

Hi everyone,

I am new to Texas (and to Bigger Pockets), and I am currently trying to educate myself about rental investing. Since I am new to San Antonio, I'm also trying to get to know the city better before actually starting to look at possible rental properties. My goal would be to invest in an SFR, but like I said I'm still just trying to educate myself so I am open to other options as well.

My question is: What would be some of the better areas to buy a property in San Antonio? Or maybe even somewhere outside of SA but still relatively close? Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you

Usually those types of deals come to people who get out there and hustle to find the owners who NEED to get out of their homes. Real Estate Agents are pretty smart and will get the most that they can for the person that they represent. That means that there are usually not "Deals" on the MLS. It is rare and you may find one, but it is not common.

Read up on doing some marketing. Talk with people who are behind on their mortgage, taxes, inherited a home or in general NEED to get out. Those are the people who will sell below market. This is not EASY. You have to put in plenty of work to find a deal. Youtube, facebook, etc make it seem like all you do is post something or call a real estate agent and everyone is knocking on your door with a deal. Be skeptical. Put in the hard work and you will find some deals.

After doing this for 15 years I can tell you that it is constant WORK.
