Age cut off for an rental property
Hello Yall,
When considering to purchase a rental property. The age of the property is a factor in considering to purchase a rental. It will just be a domino effect of stuff to fix down the years if its old. What are some common problems someone will encounter in a rental property that is old? Also, what age range should I stay away from?
For example stay away from properties built in the 70s, 80s, or early 90s?
Thank you
JD Maldonado
* Meant to say cut not cute in the headline. I know, I can't do anything about it ha.

We like to stay above 1985, the reasons being in older house you'll have to deal with lead paint, crumbling iron plumbing, asbestos remediation, aluminium wiring and functional obsolence. If it was well built, well maintained and/or updated, it might work. And as Karl said, newer doesn't necessarily mean better (e.g. chinese drywall).
