Reinvesting equity from sale

Hello Everyone,

I am new to Texas (Arlington), and looking at possibly doing some investing.  I am going around in circles on which route to take.  I have a home in Georgia, that I am about to sell sometime this spring.  Looking at comparable's in the neighborhood, I should be able to walk away with roughly 70-80k net.  Ideally I would take that money and put it towards a down payment on a family home here in Texas.  Unfortunately we don't even know what area we want to live in long term, or even know enough about the DFW area to have an idea.  The safe bet...is to just park the money in a savings account until we are ready to buy (currently renting).

Knowing the DFW market better than I do, what are some good options?  I am not trying to become some real estate mogul, or quit my job.  Maybe two - three homes that are paying themselves off and cash flowing.
