New Texas Inspection Requirements

There is a new law that went into effect as of September 1, 2008. It affects buildings outside of any city limits. Collin County was only one of two counties in the state that had a county inspection program. Now, anyone that builds outside of a city limits must have a 3-phase inspection performed on the property prior to getting their C.O. The first phase is the foundation phase, which is done prior to the slab being poured. The second is the dry-in inspection, which is performed prior to dry wall being installed. The third is the final inspection, which is performed when everything in the house has been completed. The same is also true if there is being remodeling done to an existing property that amounts to over $10,000.
