Eviction/renting in illinois
Currently my landlord told me to move out due to smoking I been there for about 10 years theirs no lease or an agreement about not smoking in the premises I’m here month to month he’s saying the neighbors are complaining rent is paid all the time and on time he has no other problem with me I’m not a problematic tenant but now he wants me out what can I do? Can he evict me for this? Everything was verbal

Hey @Jessica Arteaga - Yes, your landlord can serve you notice to end the lease if you are currently month to month. Eventually, if you choose not to move out you can be evicted. However, if you have been there for I believe 2 years you have 90 days to get out. If less than 2 years you have 60 days.
I could be wrong about those exact numbers, but here in Chicago, it matters how long you have been in the unit. @John Warren or @Mark Ainley can verify my numbers.
