New Investor - Warwick, RI

Hello BP Team!

I am a brand new BP member looking to potentially invest in the Providence/Warwick, RI area. I currently live in the Bay Area, but my family lives in Rhode Island and will be my "boots on the ground". I'm new to real estate investing, but I've got some capital set aside and I'm eager to get my feet wet. After crunching some numbers, it looks like multi-family might be a solid investment, but I'm new, so what do I know :)

Does anybody have a good feel for this market? Is anybody having success in this area? If so, I'd love to connect!

Thanks!

Ryan

@Ryan Ebzery I’m a little contrarian so what I usually recommend to folks is that they try looking where fewer other people are looking. For example, everyone wants to buy a multi in Pawtucket “because it’s close to the T”.

But comparatively fewer people talk about buying a multi in North Providence, North Smithfield, Johnston, or Coventry.

Depending on where you are, maybe some of those specific areas won’t work, but the general idea is, try looking in different places then most of the other people are looking, and you’ll have less competition and probably get a better deal.
