Owner Occupied Qualifications in Providence RI

Austin Holmes
Posted

Hello all,

I am interested in purchasing a multi-unit (likely 2-4) apartment in Providence RI. I am wondering if anyone can direct me to the specifications for qualifying piece of real estate as owner occupied.

Specifically my questions are:

Can my investment qualify as an owner-occupied asset if I live in the asset, and own it, but rent out it's other units to other people?

Am I able to qualify for this discount if I purchase this asset with partners that do not live in the location?

How long do I have to live in the building for the discount?

Does the discount last for as long as I live in the unit or once I purchase it and declare it owner occupied, does the discount continue into the future even if I move?

Thanks,
