Coronavirus Impact on Rent?

John Smith
Posted

Is anyone familiar with any laws they've passed either federally or in PA having to do with rent collections? I read something about halting evictions. Could a tenant who is struggling for money in these times refuse to pay rent and not take a hit on their credit report? The more details the better! Thanks

They have not been canceled or forgiven. All is still owed. I would suggest working with them, as most tenants will still be reasonable human beings as long as you treat them with understanding & respect. If they are confrontational and refuse to work with you at all, then tack on your late fees, and tell them you will be filing for all rents, late fees, filing fees, and attorneys fees the second courts are open, and you will be getting a judgement against them, hit their credit, and garnish their wages going forward until you are made whole.
