Rental registration fees and rental license fees

Guys,

Just a heads up, if your town or city is starting to get too aggressive with any of its fees for registering rental units or charging excessive rental license fees, let me know. I recently won a class action suit against the City of Scranton. Any landlords that paid the fees in 2014 and/or 2015 will be members of the class action. They will need to "opt in" but they will be entitled to refunds.

Here is some of the press we received:

Judge allows class action against Scranton's rental registration program/fees

Landlord fights Scranton's rental registration fees

Upgrade rental registration

Now that this case has set a precedence, it is time for landlords all over to step up against municipalities that look at property investors as an open wallet. We should not be targeted as secondary revenue sources.
