Finding Contractors in Montgomery County, NC

What's up BP! I'm creatively financing my family home reno through some programs in my North Carolina family hometown. I've got everything I need EXCEPT FOR... (drumroll)... contractor bids!

I've called the bank, the town clerk, reached out to local hardware stores, googled, yelped, and I can't seem to get a lead on 4-5 contractors. Makes it very difficult to schedule a weekend to drive down to meet. 

Any tips or advice on how to beef up my research without being within 500 miles of the local area? (I'm in NYC!)
