Buy and hold

Hello fellow investors! I want to eventually start my own large real estate investment firm. (and I know I can get there). However every giant tree started as a tiny seed. What I'm saying is that to start first I want to learn as much as I can on the subject of buy and hold and then move on to larger projects. Are there any local investors or developers that I can learn from and give a helping hand?
