Looking into SFHs in Maryland

Hello all,

I'm just starting out and decided to focus on buying my first property in Maryland. I'm waiting for some financing to come through but in the meantime I've been looking for SFHs for LTRs. My idea is to buy a SFH in the Ellicott City, Cantonsville, Columbia or Elkridge area. I just wanted to get a sense whether this idea for a SFH in these areas is a good one or not. I have a friend that said those areas are good areas but most likely have owners and not renters. Should I pursue this plan or is there a better area for SFH LTRs?

Any input would be appreciated!
