Property Rebuild after Damage - Dos and Donts

Sachin Ganorkar
Posted

My rental property was severely damaged by fire. Have to replace all interior walls, electricals, kitchen cabinets and the works ... only outside structure is standing. \Waiting on Insurance to clear the property (determine what caused it and whois responsible [landlord/me or tenant] for repair.

Since this a first time experience, I was hoping to get advise on

1) How to go about finding a contractor for such works ? Find on HomeAdvisor, Houzz, etc.

2) Should I leverage Property Manager for help in the remodel/repair since its not an option for me to fly across 10 states to manage the contractor ? I believe they will charge me 5-10 % fee for such involvement.

3) Any other dos / donts that one can advise?

Looking forward to some help...
