Structuring a cost plan with your significant other

Hi! My boyfriend and I just got done with my first BRRRR which we're super excited about, I've don't have any prior experience and he helped me learn a lot along the way and even rehabbed the entire house for me — total renovation time took 6 months so labor cost came out to $28,000 but he's giving me a deal at $18,000. For future, I'm going to be helping with the design piece for his upcoming property and I'm not exactly sure how to go about structuring the cost for that. So I'm wondering how other S/O's / Partners go about doing this? Any advice is much appreciated!
