When to get and physical office for your biz

So the question is at what point does an investor secure his own office that is not connected to his personal residence?

My wife and I have worked from home for all of our investing career thus far. We do hire outside help from time to time. The help we hire is typically by the job/project. We are now thinking of hiring our first regular employee to take over some of the day-to-day operations to free up our time to pursue dealmaking in a greater measure. I really do not want to lease an office somewhere in order to hire help. On the other hand I don’t have the systems in place to make sure that I am getting the biggest bang for the buck For an employee that would work from home. I feel like it is time to scale up, but I’m not sure exactly how.

Anyone that has cross this bridge or is making money hand over fist staying at home please chime in.
