What an amazing place! The $$$$$ OOZES from everywhere since they discovered Oil and actually drilled for it. (What a concept!)
On 1 year lease ENTIRE rent is due in ADVANCE! If lease is for 2 years or more, first year rent is due in full and then 12 monthly checks written and dated for each of the next 12 months. If any check bounces, you go to jail. So, if you lose your job etc, you better leave the country. It would be difficult to be an absentee landlord since the time is 12 hours ahead of CA!

Mods- Feel free to re-classify this thread. I hate to take the time to type an ad and then find I wasn't qualified to place in that particular category...Thanks. Rich from Oman.

If there are any architects on BP, this is one place you gotta see. Their skyline is going to be one of a kind. Very few square buildings. Not only the tallest (still tallest I believe), but buildings that actually look twisted (really don't know how they line those up correctly), another that looks like a sailboat, another that looks like a sail, another inverted etc. I'll try to post some pics when I return. (I'm so great at that stuff!)

They have reclaimed land off the coast (not very deep) and have developed what looks like a palm tree that can be seen from Space. Fifty 5 star hotels, very luxurious housing, amazing restaurants and the rich are flooding in. This is the first of what will be 3 palm trees off coast.
The Emiratees are literally throwning oil $$$$ in every direction. If you are a true Emiratee, you receive free house, car etc. They want the biggest, tallest and best of everything. Very tourism oriented. Supposedly, services (including tourism) will be the # one money maker, even higher than oil shortly. They have DubaiLand (like Disneyworld, but much bigger, a SEVEN star Hotel (I didn't know there was such a thing) Malls that are the cleanest and most amazing I've ever seen. One has a snow world with chair lift to the top-snowboarding, skiiing etc.

UAE consists of 7 cities/states and 2 are filthy rich. Dubai and Abudhabi. They are billing themselves as safest country on earth and I buy it. Penalties/punishments are a deterrent, but the $$$ does seem to be available to those that want to work. No social free money for the most part and you can work or leave and return to your old country. Supposedly 200 countries represented in UAE.

On to another wealthy country today-Oman. About the time I get the 12 hour time difference figured out, it'll be time to return to U.S. Rich
