Abandon real property

I have a trailer that has been abandon on my land for about 5 years i called the company that owns it ant they said that they have already did a claim on so they would not come get so we called the police out and they ran the vin to see if it had been reported stolen and it had not so the police told me to place a lien on it to get the title, so my question is this can i do this on my own or do i need a lawyer and if i need a lawyer what kind do i need?? This is all new to me please help any advice is good.
