Is Closing Help a Must?
Hi everyone,
I am trying to buy a house. The closing cost for the house is about $52,000.00. I have asked the seller to do the whole $52K (3%) but she refused saying that she can remove $50k from the price of the house while I pay the closing fee myself
I thought the sellers always paid the closing fees without questions. Please I really need answers on how to proceed here. Paying the $50k for closing will be too much for me after I am made to pay 20% down payment for the house.
Please, any response is welcome
Alexis
Thanks

@Alexis Nworah I’m every market tou traditionally have some closing cost are paid by the seller and some that are paid by the buyer. I’d you are asking the seller to pay Your closing costs it seems the seller has some misconception that Lowering the price by $50k and having you pay the $50k, somehow is to her disadvantage, which it is not (except for some minor increase in a transfer tax that she is paying, based on the selling price....which you should make up for her).
I assume there are no agents involved, as her agent would have walked her through the numbers and explained to her that it makes it easier for the buyer buy, doing it your way. You need to calmly talk to her and find out why she thinks it is a bad idea, and show her the numbers. Maybe suggest she talk to cpa she trust, so she can get a neutral 3rd party opinion.
But no, it is not standard or expected that the seller automatically pays the buyer’s closing cost.
