Be Obsessed or Be Average

Grant Cardone is a man of incredible talent and success, and a man with the incredible bluntness that can rub people the wrong way.

I love it.

When I read a book I highlight the parts that are particularly meaningful to me and write the page numbers on a business card. I’m blowing through “Be Obsessed or Be Average” right now, and i find myself writing down most pages and being generally amazed.

Parts of it are exciting and I agree with them. Other parts make me feel very uncomfortable, and then I realize how valuable that is and I go back and highlight it. I’ve read a lot of books over the past 10 months, and few have encouraged and excited me the way this has.

If you haven’t read it, I strongly suggest you pick it up.

What are some of the Cardone-isms that irritate the hell out of you? What are the ones that encourage you? What are the ones that do both?

@Cameron Marlon Susman I agree with you about being aggressive, but that's also one of the things I really like about the book. Some of the things he says can be very offputting, but then after thinking a little further it's the discomfort that ends up opening my eyes.

I think one of the main concepts that applies throughout the book is summed up in one quote towards the end: "Comfort doesn't pay the bills". He consistently emphasizes the importance of stretching yourself and growing, despite being uncomfortable.

Another one was "If you're short on creativity, it's only because you aren't committed enough." This resonated hard with me...I'm a very analytical person and typically wouldn't describe myself as very creative at all. But when I read that and started thinking about it a little more, I started realizing how I've started thinking creatively about real estate out of necessity in putting together deals. When you don't give yourself a choice, once you commit fully to your goals, your creativity can be endless
