Investing outside of real estate?

Hey all,

With prices inflated for the summer season, I hate sitting on our money. I was curious if and what other people were doing invest their money either short or long term? I remember hearing "to become a millionaire, you need to have your money working for you in 5 different areas". We bought our first three rentals within the last year and have a short target of 6-10 total asap but the numbers aren't working without looking over an hour away. Hoping it'll change this fall.

What's everyone else doing to keep their money working for them while they hunt for deals? Or what else do people invest it to spread out their portfolio?
