Ideas to make $ off raw land before building primary residence?

I see some nice properties for sale (5acre+) and would love to live there, but can't afford it currently. I'm wondering if there any ideas out there for buying the land, somehow making money off it to pay off the purchase price (at least) and build a house in the future for primary residence?
